I couldn't live without pain.
I'd been born into a life of torture and I walked the lonely road of torment, praying for mercy. I was scarred mentally. I was deformed physically. I was mutilated emotionally.
I was a sailor lost at sea, a soul lost in limbo, a shell of a man with no hope.
Until I found her. My fiery-haired, crystal-eyed little one who brought light to a life that knew nothing but darkness.
But she had dark shadows of her own. A past filled with anguish and brutality. A future that promised nothing but the barren life I understood too well.
We were two victims. Two loveless souls searching for something to live for. We were monsters. We were evil. We were doomed.
Our scars ran deep and our grasp on each other depended only on the search for punishment - for the next slice of pain that made us feel alive. We lived for the hurt, we lived for the anger. We lived to mark each other with intensity, belonging, and our own messed up version of recovery.
This isn't a love story. It's a story that cuts. It's a story that captivates. It's a story that questions morals and crosses the line of sanity.

REVIEW - Flawed by Cherry Shephard - REVIEWED BY LOUISE

Well it's not often I really have to think hard about a review before I write it.  Usually I just write whatever comes to my head about the book.  This one completely and utterly floored me and I needed to ensure that my review would be able to do this book justice.

This book has so many sensitive issues in it -
Suicidal tendencies
Unwanted pregnancy
9/11 terrorist attack
Loss and grief
Self Harming

I have to say each and every one of these was written with compassion and carefully so as to do them all justice.  I can imagine that the author is absolutely terrified about how people will recieve this book because of these issues.

9/11, I can remember what I was doing that day.  I was watching on the television as the second plane hit.  I'm british and it still affected me.  I think Cherry was very brave to take something that was so real and incorporate it into her story.

I fell in love with Keets, the sensitive geek who is struggling with the loss of his Fiance and unborn child.  He was unable to get to them to save them and he will never forgive himself for that.  So much that he plans on ending his life on the same day in the same place where Liz lost hers.

So many of the scenes with Keets in reduced me to tears.  Two specfically the one where Liz dies and the one where he goes to commit suicide.  One of these I read at work on my break and was bawling like a baby in the staff room!!  It's a good job noone else saw me!

Natalie has been dumped by her boyfriend and her call from her sister Shannon could not havecome at a better time.   She even ended up having a stupid one night stand with a stranger.  A reguar self harmer she needs something to keep her grounded.  She meets Keets and her life changes for the better.  Eventually......

Can two flawed people save eachother from destroying themselves?

A perfectly Flawed love story that has more twists and turns in it than a rollercoaster.  And OMG the ending!!!  I badly need book 3 like now!!!  I need to know what happens!

REVIEW - Imperfect by Cherry Shephard - REVIEWED BY LOUISE

This is the first book by this author I have read.  I've had it on my kindle since it's release but I never got around to reading it until I read about book 2 and I realised I needed to read this one first before I could read that one!!

When I finished and put my kindle down only one thing ran through my head........
WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG TO READ THIS????

Imperfect follows Stone (Ethan) on his return after serving.  He's dealing with not only injuries he sustained but PTSD.  His character is written with compassion in a way that stays true to the condition and how it effects sufferers.  Much research must have been done to write this part.
He has a fair few obstacles to overcome, especially when a blast from the past finds him and drops a massive bombshell on him.  But throughout all of this Shannon becomes his guiding light through the storm that is his life.

Shannon inherits Saddles from her deceased father and this becomes her ticket out of an abusive controlling relationship.  Running the bar gives her a new lease of life.  But something is missing, a spark, something to live for.....  Until Stone barges into her life with all his emotional baggage.

Can she save him from his worst enemy, himself??  Can two Imperfect people find salvation in eachother?

A love story with a difference, this book is written with finesse and expertise.  It flowed perfectly and I found myself unable to put it down and finishing it in record time.  I just needed to know what would happen everytime I turned a page!

**JASMINE**

MMA champ, Cameron ‘K.O.’ Jackson, is the embodiment of every woman’s dream man. He’s smart, tall, dark, and handsome, with a bad boy twist. The only problem is, this Prince Charming doesn’t talk. That’s right. He acknowledges he can, he just…doesn’t.

The night I met him, his beauty turned my brain to mush. Then, he kissed me, and my world tilted on its axis. He was a distraction, something I didn’t need being twenty-two years old and pre-med. Besides, I had no business even thinking about a violent MMA fighter, so I walked away with no intention of seeing him again. Apparently, he had other plans.

He tracked me down, and I brushed all my objections aside, diving head first into a relationship because he intrigued me. As I get to know him, I learn he’s not the psychotic killer I thought he was, but the more I’m with him, it seems the less I know. He’s a conundrum – scary fighter and gentle giant; public figure, private man. Mystery surrounds him and no one is more curious than I am. Well, you know the saying – ‘curiosity killed the cat’. Cameron’s world is dangerous, and I’m about to learn firsthand. When it breaks down my door, will he be able to save me?

Excerpt

Taking a deep breath, I close the bathroom door and turn placing my hands on the basin and just breathe. Amelia’s words ring through my mind.
‘I don’t want you to sacrifice your life for him.’
I don’t want to die, and I’ve already come close to it with Chops. But if I left Steel, would I be in even more danger without him and his protection? I feel like either way now I’m doomed. I need to make a choice to either stick this out with Steel or leave him and trust that I’ll be safe on my own.
Shaking my head my heart leaps into my chest. The thought of leaving him has me all choked up. Yes, since I’ve met him I’ve been abused, attacked, made to leave my home, my job, my parents, and been on the run for two weeks with no shower, hardly any decent food and sleeping in a car. But I’ve done it all with Steel by my side, and even though it’s been tough—I love him. I was coasting before I met Steel, just living life the way my parents thought I should. It was boring, mundane, it was one continuous blah. And thinking to what Amelia said about living with Mad Dog rings true to me—Steel makes me feel alive! There’s a buzz in the air, an electrical pulse when he’s near. It’s crazy, it’s dangerous, it’s scary and it will probably end up with me dead, but sometimes you have to take a chance, and to me, Steel is worth fighting for.
I slap my hands back down on the sink and nod my head making my final decision.
“I’m his, no matter what,” I say to my reflection in the mirror and smile at my dishevelled reflection as the bright yellow of the walls only builds the happiness of my mood. If anything, all Amelia’s talk has done is ignite the flame in my heart for Steel even more than before.
I am his.
He is mine.
I’m in this…
Completely!

REVIEW - Chameleon Soul by Mia Hoddell - REVIEWED BY LOUISE

This heartwarming story follows Raine as she chooses to let the love of her life go so he can follow his dreams.  One fateful night made this decision for her and she has had to live with it ever since.  One year later she is still suffering from the effects of that night.  But she is over Teo, until she sees him again that is and she realises that not only does she still love him but that he may in fact still love her......

I haven't read that many racing books, only a few.  It makes a lovely change to all the MC, Rocker, Billionaire and Stepbrother books I have read.

This story absolutely tugged at my heart-strings.  If there is one thing I have learnt from reading Mia's books it is that she has the ability to write things in a way that will make you feel as if you are the characters experiencing those things yourself.

It really is a wonderful story and keeps you guessing throughout the book as to what actually did happen to Raine and exactly why she decided to let Teo go.

I love the ending, I won't spoil it.  But it is a lovely end to a emotional heart felt read.  This absolutely deserves it's 5 stars no doubt about that.  I couldn't put it down.  Oh the feels!!  I didn't cry but it certainly had an impact on me in the most endearing way!

I most certainly cannot wait for book 2 in this series!

⇉ ⇉ EXCERPT ⇇
“Raine, wait!”
Footsteps thundered behind me, forcing me to run faster as my vision began tunnelling. Bouncing off the walls as I rounded corners, I attempted to trace my steps back to the exit through the labyrinth of hallways.
I could hear the footsteps growing louder, as if Nadine was right on my heels, but I couldn’t look without losing my rhythm.
Abruptly, I was jerked to a stop by a hand on my wrist. I spun at the touch, flinging my back against the wall with a scream. My movements were too fast to take anything in.
“What the f*** are you doing here?” The voice that snarled the words was not Nadine’s. Even full of malice I could never forget his tone. Despite that, my brain was no longer thinking logically.
I raised my hands instinctively to shield my face, the line between reality and my memories blurring. The brightly lit corridor was too tight and darkness encroached from every corner.
I was back in the alley. The rough bricks bit into my spine as I cowered into the building praying I could make myself invisible.
“No, not again,” I whimpered, my hands shaking. “Please, not again.”
In my mind they were coming at me, closing the distance.
No matter how tiny I made myself they could still see me.
“Don’t hurt me. Let me go!” White-hot panic rose in my chest, consuming me and fuelling the memory. Everything felt so similar, I wasn’t even seeing what was really in front of me.
